Is this the same as regular colostrum powder?
No. Whole colostrum includes larger proteins, antibodies, fats and carbohydrates. Turrigen contains proprietary low-molecular-weight fractions isolated from bovine colostrum.
Is Turrigen a high-IgG colostrum supplement?
No. The fraction contains no IgG. Turrigen is built around the low-molecular-weight fractions rather than the antibody-rich protein fraction in traditional colostrum powders.
Is the full 150 mg made of peptides?
No. It is a complex of fractions containing peptides and other small compounds. The accurate claim is 150 mg of the fractions, not 150 mg of purified peptides.
Does smaller molecular weight mean better absorption?
In general peptide science, size does matter: the smallest peptides have a dedicated intestinal absorption route, and hydrolyzed proteins are absorbed faster than the same proteins intact. But that has not been measured for these fractions. The human study measured changes in selected immune biomarkers after oral consumption, not absorption or blood levels of individual compounds. How quickly will I feel it?
The study measured biomarker changes within one to two hours, but biomarkers are not necessarily something a person can feel. The study did not evaluate subjective effects.
Does it contain milk?
Yes. The fractions are derived from bovine colostrum. Turrigen contains milk and should not be used by anyone with a milk allergy.
